Re: Update Update
After a day of drinking all that scotch, you might need a cordial to unwind with. I suggest this:

I don't think it's readily available in the US, unfortunately. I snagged a bottle when I was in the Virgin Islands...absolutely fantastic, if you like sweet cordials.

Re: Update Update
I am sorely tempted by those bottles...in the meantime, Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale will have to do. I have been on a Maker's Mark jag, but might just have to try some of those other treats!

Much as bourbon has appeal, I still use iced tea 52 ounces at a time as my daily drink of choice. There, I am updated.schlepporello wrote:With all the talk about spirits, my daily drink of choice is still Pepsi or Coke. The Jackson wrote:I'll have a Diet Coke.

Re: Update Update
All in all "Enigma" was wonderful Saturday night. There is one lick I would like to have back, but considering my pay scale it wasn't too bad. I absolutely love the piece and considered actually getting to play it a once in a lifetime experience.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

Re: Update Update
My right hand still hurts. A lot. The middle is still swollen, and mobility is limited, so I am doing almost everything with my left hand. I can still play the valves on my CC (thankful for the short stroke of rotaries) and even played the piano at work every day last week, although it left me writhing in pain afterwards.MartyNeilan wrote:I am fast becoming left handed. I think I broke my right hand near one of the knuckles a couple weeks ago, and it is getting increasingly harder to move, not to mention the swelling has never gone down. Still can play the piano and tuba, although it is sometimes excruciating.the elephant wrote:UPDATE:
I am still left handed. Please continue with your lives. Thank you.
I broke down and made an appointment with an orthopedic specialist for Wednesday afternoon. Besides taking all my money, I am not too eager to go to the doctor - the last time I saw a doctor they stuck a camera up my rear end (and I have the pictures to prove it!)

Re: Update Update
No, I don't believe in "pain relievers" except for rare and extreme circumstances, as I have seen what their overuse can do to someone's digestive system or liver. I have also seen the addictive qualities of many of the "prescription" pain drugs and do not wish to go down that road myself. I have become of the old school "suck it up" mentality; when I was younger I was given all kinds of medicines for all kinds of reasons, and I greatly regret that to this day. However, I do realize that there may be some value in having an anti-inflammatory. I have put this off for three-and-a-half weeks hoping it would get better (and because I am too darn cheap to pay the co-pays) but it has stayed the same or gotten worse. I just really hope they don't put my full hand in a cast; I have a concert downtown the night after the exam.bloke wrote:Are you - at least - taking aspirin or some type of anti-inflammatory?MartyNeilan wrote:My right hand still hurts. Re: Update Update
If it helps, aspirin isn't much of a pain reliever, in my opinion.MartyNeilan wrote:No, I don't believe in "pain relievers" except for rare and extreme circumstances, as I have seen what their overuse can do to someone's digestive system or liver.bloke wrote: Are you - at least - taking aspirin or some type of anti-inflammatory?
It is however a great anti-inflammatory. Try aspirin next time you get a sunburn - much less swelling, and hence much less pain, itching, peeling, etc. As soon as you notice the burn, and/or any time thereafter.

My wife and I attended our first class to become foster parents with the end result of adopting. Therefore my kids may have the musical talent that I am severely lacking.

Re: Update Update
Uh, scottw, you may need to edit the quotes on that - My quote was the response about the size and the decaf - NOT the bourbon or the iced tea.
Marty "who could be fired immediately from my dayjob (and possibly my adjunct) if people found something online that erroneously claimed I was drinking bourbon."

Update:
We just had a fire drill here at the school. Lucky me it was during my planning period so no kids or instruments to worry about getting knocked over.

Re: Update Update
It's been a dry year musically since moving to Malakoff, TX. I'm sure that comes as a big surprise to the readers. But, I have found a great community band in Canton. It's a 40 minute drive, but worth every minute and drop of gas.
