Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Re: Update Update
Yes, yes, I know that the mortality (or lack thereof) of Generalississississimo Franco is VERY important, but I have a much more pressing issue at hand. All day, I have had Chuck Mangione's XIth Commandment playing in my head incessantly. Is this a sign of brain damage, or am I just overly enthralled by the bass work of Charles "Meat Man" Meeks?

Update for that Update:
An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend. The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.
The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special." At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. "Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000, the jeweler said. The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement. The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it!"
The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, "By check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon."
Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man. "There's no money in that account"
"I know," said the old man, "But let me tell you about my weekend...."

Re: Update Update
Almost asleep was I when the phone rang. My buddy was frantic. A construction crew removed his roof down to the rafters and left his house open to any weather because they were late for church.
He gets home from his gig to find bare rafters and checks the weather radar to find a storm closing in from the North.
He implored me to grab and tarps and clamps I may have and head his way, fast.
I did. I found ten clamps and a 12 x 12 tarp and got there an hour before the rain came.
We had just enough time and clamps and tarps to get everything covered. The storm fizzeled out just before it got to us and all was well.
I went to sleep on my boat closeby. The next morning he called and invited me over for coffee. I declined because the construction crew was arriving and I couldn't stand to hear what was about to go down.

I got the stitches out of my hand today. I injured myself at work last Tuesday, and I had 7 stitches in the palm of my left hand. All better now, though.

Re: Update Update
Got my windows installed. They did a decent job; only broke the bricks in two places, inside the house. None outside, and the fixes are pretty minor.
It's nice to have windows that will open without input from three hands and a hammar. They are not as sound-proof as I was hoping for; they are better than the previous ones, but something keeps waking me up at 5 a.m., presumably a noise but I'm still asleep when the noise happens. Probably still the newspaper hitting the driveway next door. Back to ear plugs...
I had to skip over those pages of fish pictures. Bleah.

Try setting a computer to record the audio around that time. Maybe you can figure out what it is.MaryAnn wrote: but something keeps waking me up at 5 a.m., presumably a noise but I'm still asleep when the noise happens. Try the microphone if several places, including outside.
I guess you don't wake if the ear plugs are in? It's not that you've become accustomed to waking then is it?
My wife wakes around 2am every night. That's when our daughter was waking her up, and after a few months she just wakes on her own.

Just to keep you updated, the process of my switching from right to left has become fairly complete. The mouse has been on the Left side of my keyboard for quite some time now.

Re: Update Update
Update: I just bought an interesting book about trumpet embouchure, that pretty much uses the same ideas as Roger Lewis talks about.
After fiddling with it for a couple days, it looks entirely possible that I will be able to play in the squeak range on trumpet in a reasonable length of time. Then I can torture people in entirely new ways.

Re: Update Update
I just finished reading about 20 pages of update.
The repair shop says the tuba is apart, the parts are fixed, and should be back together this week.
we had a fire at the landfill.
additional updates will be posted as the situations change.

If another person said "Hey! It's hot!" to me at work today, I swear to God I would have beaten them to death. Luckily, no one did.
