There have been German chains in the United States in the past. Until 1983 there was a Wienerwald in Times Square in New York City. It isn't the greatest chain--not even in Germany or Austria, where they somewhat abound.

I like Olive Garden but it is a chain and the food is pretty much a carbon copy of Texas, New Jersey, California, or Alaska. It's all the same. I prefer the independent places. But, if Olive Garden came to Saigon, I'd be there in a flash!
