One of my favorite hiking/backpacking places in the U.S. is Big Bend National Park. When I was still in Texas, I would try to schedule my trips to the park when they were having the chili championship in Terlingua.

Well, as a lifelong New Jerseyan. I am totally using "they don't put beans in chili in Texas" next time someone tells me I'm weird for not liking it that way. Virtually all chili around here (except for the stuff my dad and I make), contains beans. :-(

It is also universally made with ground beef. I will have to try it with chunks, as that is probably quite good.

I would be perfectly happy to trade an awesome (and very simple!) recipe for tomato sauce (and the best damn meatballs you'll ever have) for a great chili recipe. :-) :-) I'm lookin' at you, Texas folk!!!


NJ may not know barbecue, but we sure have some great italian food!!
