"I hate you,
You hate me;
Let's go out and kill Barney!
And a shot rang out and Barney hit the floor,
No more purple dinosaur."

I have Dish Network, and its worth what I pay because of the Ovation Channel. Yesterday alone they played a concert from the Berlin Philharmonic, and a stunning Mahler 2 from Simon Rattle and the CBSO. Just a spectacular performance.

That one was very popular with my senior corps. One time, we were doing a parade, and who was there, riding in a car? Barney! So, a bunch of us broke out with "I hate you, You hate me..." and I swear Barney flipped us off.

We buy the cheapest package available from Bresnan, the local cable outfit, mostly for the PBS channel. The other channels (especially the news from Denver -- about 800 miles away) don't do much for me.

When our now-grown-and-out-of-the-house children were younger, we'd put the TV in the closet in the summer so they'd get up and outside.

We've only got one TV in the house and now have a hard time finding anything worthwhile to watch. Thank goodness for the movie rentals in the little red envelope.

Concur!!!! Especially when he conducts most of the 2nd movement with his hands in his pockets. Maybe the most facially expressive conductor on the planet. AND the tuba player uses a Besson EEb on the whole thing and sounds incredible. Take that you BAT masters!!!!

Just an addition to my previous praise of the Ovation Channel. There is a fantastic show on right now featuring the King's Singers. I just can't say any more about them. Just simply amazing. A few days ago there was a program about Benjamin Zander, that was also great. I'm not sure what services this channel is available on, but I would check it out!

We've got DirecTV. Since my wife is retired & disabled, she watches a lot of the Food Network & some of the medical shows. I'm happy with TV Land, Sleuth, and some of the outdoors stuff.

I live in a high rise apartment in Saigon. Some people in the building have parabolic dishes but they lose their balconies, as that's the only place they can install them.

Hopefully, in a few months, I will be moved away from the big city (away from the noise, but also away from American restaurants!) near the university where I now teach on Monday and Friday. The teachers' college next door is offering me a contract (another multiyear contract) for the next year. There are no apartments and I can have a nice cottage with plenty of room for the biggest home satellite dish in Vietnam.

Wabbit ears. All I watch is on PBS and I get that well enough via the Silly Wabbit. It's a little snowy but we miss that snow down here in the hotter-n-blue-blazes desert southwest.

I keep seeing these ads about how much money I'll save by packaging my internet / TV / phone....but so far, I pay $48 for the sum total and no one even comes close to beating that price. When they do, and it's not some short term gimmick or bait-n-switch, I'll think about it. Meanwhile I can watch Wimbledown up at the racquet club for free, and I got a couple of them-thar gubment coupons for the HD box.

I have an internet/cable package. For a few years in the new house we used an antennae for TV and we had dial up internet. But eventualy the kids bugged me enough and I broke down. I must admit the fast internet is nice.

As far as Barney is concerned, I tell my elementary school students that I think Barney eats small children. Did you ever notice that every season there is a new kid on the show? What happended to the other kid?
