As you can tell from my avatar, naming the cat after a great Yankee player(like Thurman) would be very appealing to me...but my girlfriend is opposed, as this is a female cat (and thus needs a more feminine name). The closest I've gotten is Mickey and Ruth, but she's not crazy about either. So far, Roxanne is the only one we both really like.

pick your favorite color, or the color of the cat. Then find the word for that in another language.

That'd work for a bovine pet, too (you'd have to add an "o", but that's all).

Here's our Kitten, whom we've named Roxanne (Roxy).
roxy.jpg
This picture was taken about an hour after we got her home. She climbed right up into my lap and just sat there for a few minutes. Late last night, she curled up and fell asleep in my lap. She's is a very sweet, friendly kitten, with a nasty cold right now that's affecting her eyes. The poor thing has been sleeping pretty much all day as she fights this cold off. Hopefully she'll be better soon and more playful!

Congrats on the cat. We have 2 females: one is a 10 yr old named Cohutta (named after the town we found her in) and Bellatrix (Bella for short, from Harry Potter).

We've had our cat for over a week now and although she is a wonderful, sweet cat, it has not been a great week for her.

Her cold had been affecting her eyes, and we were giving her a regimen of eye ointments as well as drops, as prescribed by the Vet. Unfortunately, We came home from work Thursday to find her right eye bulged out and cloudy looking. We brought her to the vet that night, and she told us Roxy's eye had ruptured, and would never be sighted again. Once she gets over the cold, the vet said she may need surgery to remove the eye completely, unless it scars down.

She gave us another eye ointment, and some different drops to give her, because her left eye still was very red. We woke up Friday morning to find the left eye looking similar to the right, though not as bulged. We brought her in again, and our fears were confirmed--during the night, she scratched at her left eye, and damaged it. She now has a cone around her neck, so she can't get at her eyes. We're hoping that she heals well enough to not need surgery, and according to the vet she may still have some vision when she gets better (she might see shadows, or detect motion). For now that, the poor thing is completely in the dark. It is very sad, especially because she is such a sweet, affectionate cat.
