"tubatinker" is pretty easy to comprehend.
In local circles I am known as 'The Village Tinker' - band instrument repair.... a name taken from the 'tinkers' that traveled from town to town at the turn of the century soldering up holes in pots, pans, and washtubs.

Mine is a reference to what I do/did.
I'm a french horn player, and love playing low horn parts. I also love playing natural horn. Hence the reference to Dauprat's horn method

assuming that "they" still do that, since it has been over a decade since I last entered the doors of one of that chain

I remember many a late night at the Kettle. Those all-nighters were more tolerable with the 24 hour breakfast buffet.Doc wrote:You guys sound like a bunch of amateurs.![]()
The thing I never liked about most Denny's was waiting forever to get your food, even though there were very few customers in the store. I can handle the food, it's the incompetence I can't stand. I'd rather go to a Kettle (Mmmmm... buffet!) or an IHOP. I don't eat breakfast out much, unless I'm on the road. When I do eat out for breakfast, it's usually at a local taco stand.

Ah well, honesty time. I am NOT Mary Ann. Mary Ann is my wife, and I pose her with my tubas and take pictures to fool everyone. I am the tuba player, and I'm the usual 6'4" and heffalump body to go with it.
It's been fun being a petite lil thang all this time, stirring the pot with all my commentary. I can't show up at a tuba conference 'cause then you'd all know the truth. Of course I could bring Mary Ann with me, but I'd have to teach her to play tuba really, really fast first.

My name "Sinfonian" is very obvious to any brother of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia on the board. My one way of keeping my college connection at 40+.
My real Name of David Ellis is in my signature line.

My first regular playing gig was at a theme park in Gurnee Illinois called Six Flags Great America. I was hired to play a sousaphone in a dixieland sextet that played around the park called the Ragtime Rascals. There was more than one Jim at the area where we took our breaks so people just started calling me RascalJim.
