Mach 3 turbo in the shower - no mirror. Ditched the 'stach a few years back. I like the Gillette Sensitive Skin shaving cream. Trim up the burns after w/mirror. It's the closest shave I've found.

That's How I got my razor:) Now my wife uses it. It's an old Atra, twin blade, but some of the newer tripple blade with wires and lube-strips fit it. She likes the feel of it better. heave metal handle, while all the "ladies" handles are strangely shapped plastic.
I'm sure that same little $3 razor handle has made them well over $300 in blades in the last 8 years.
That's the name of the game:) Same with Ink-jet printers, BTW.

I found a solution for my Atra when I used it. The Exchange (Military department store) had some really cheap disposables. The blades popped off easily and fit the Atra. So it was like $3 for 20 blades. There didn't last as long, but were still 1/4 the price. You might check the cheap disposables and find one you can use with your Sensor.

I got started on Mach 3 razors in boot camp...

Faster & cleaner shave than with electric, believe it or not -- at least for my face.

Will they ever come up with a 5 blade razor? 6? 12?

When will it ever stop? :?: :?: :?:

I don't think it will ever stop.

Gillette just announced the "Mach3 Turbo-Power" the other day. There's still three blades, but now there's a button on the handle that when pressed causes a motor to send 'micro pulses' to all 3 blades - making the hairs stand up better. What will they think of next!?

And I just bought one! ;) As a matter of fact, I'm going to go try it right now...

OK..

Well, once I got past the obnoxious XBox/Incredible Hulk-esque coloration, it's rather interesting. The motor simply vibrates the whole razor, which (obviously) vibrates the blades across the skin. That gives it an interesting sensation, and I can feel the hum every time it touches. It doesn't seem to catch on the skin as much, at least with a fresh cartridge.

The end result, however, is not that different from the standard non-electric Mach 3 (either regular or turbo -- the turbo just glides more smoothly than regular, anyway). It can use any variety of Mach 3 cartridges, which therefore means that the blades that are included aren't appreciably any different from the previous iterations of Mach 3 (in fact, apart from a different color on the lubrication strip, they are identical). MAYBE it will make a difference when the cartridge wears, but that comparison will have to wait until next week.

The problem is that the unpowered Mach 3 is already an outstanding razor, which is fast & smooth enough that I can go zip-zip with it, even against the grain of my facial hair. The powered version isn't quite awesome enough to justify the price hike.

How about three months later? lol...

It's been my default razor at home, mainly because I wanted to give it a fair shot. Two things come to mind now:

- It extends the useful life of cartridges to maybe double over the unpowered Mach 3. The vibrations help the razor move across the skin a lot more easily, even when the lubricating strip is worn completely white.

- I actually miss using it! When I go on trips, I take the toiletry bag that I keep at work, and in that bag, I've kept the standard Mach 3. Now, when I use the old one, it's noticeably more "draggy", and even though it's more comfortable than any other razor I've used, the powered version is even better.

I'd say that the benefits of the vibrating razor are most evident after using it for quite a while.

Before I shave I pop a Frank Zappa CD into my MAC and turn the moniters way up, so they shake the whole complex. I have a bathroom connected to my studio and the speakers can point directly at it. Then I start dancing.

While dancing I may go back and forth from one room to another and sometimes even outside. At some point I usually take off all my clothes, if they aren't off before I start the shaving process. Then I make my way back to the studio and into the bathroom, where I usually watch myself dance in the mirror naked while I brush my teeth.

I then run the hot water and splash it on my face and on my tattoos until they get nice and wet. I also usually blow my nose out one nostril at a time, aiming the boogers into the shower. I then grab the shaving cream and lather it on. Usually a lot gets in my hair and onto various parts of my body. Sometimes I'll chase my girlfriend around and attack her with the shaving cream on my face, but that's another story.

Then I shave with a MAch III turbo and am very careful to keep proper shape to my Elvis-like sideburns. I rarley cut myself. Maybe once a year at the most. It isn't good to shave every day.

When I finish shaving I jump right into the shower listening to such hits as "Jazz Discharge Party Hats" and "Burnt Weenie Sandwich". I love it. I get all soapy and clean.

When I get out of the shower I usually dance around a little more and then have a cigarette while sitting down and reading The Bible. Then I get dressed and play a little tuba before getting back to work.

I usually do this every second or third day.

Frank Zappa and everyone who has ever lived will have a chance to hear the truth and repent. Besides, Zappa's anti-Christian lyrics are mostly correct. The whole world is being deceived, and that includes most Christians. What day IS the real Sabbath?

I still use the Norelco Tripleheader corded razor that I bought back in '78. I start at my chin and stop at the back of my head.
Same blades, Schlep?

BTW... Wahl battery-operated beard trimmer. I don't shave and haven't for many years. While we're on the subject of bristly growths... I have to say that I have not been in a barber chair in over 20 years! Not for Schlep's reasons, though. I've got plenty of hair and when it falls below my shoulder blades I crop it with scissors! The babes LOVE a 58 year old tubaguy with a pony tail!

Regarding the fish on the back of the car. That is idolatry. So are crosses and the like.
