Just so you guys know, Wade's post count is now equal to 8488, a number which is part of the name of the asteroid "8488 d'Argens", a main-belt asteroid discovered on 26 September, 1989, by Eric Walter Elst, a Belgian astronomer whose discoveries number over 3000, a number that, divided by the number of letters in the Location of this thread's creator, equals the number of pages this thread has now reached.

Now, I'm not saying that this is or is not a coincidence or that Wade is or is not controlling all operations of TubeNet via a secret base on 8488 d'Argens. I'm just putting the facts out there and letting you all come to your own conclusions.

I'll be smoking 8 lbs of brisket, 8 lbs (two individual) of pork butt, and 13 lbs of cured pork belly (for an estimated 10 lbs of bacon) for a BBQ I'm hosting tomorrow. All guests will also be attending my wedding two days later.

I like my smoker.

Re: Update Update - Magic right triangle

Post by pwhitaker »

If the 8488 hypotenuse belongs to an isosceles right triange then each leg would have to be approximately 6001.922.

The legs for a 30 - 60 right trangle with that hypotenuse would be 4244 and approximately 7350.824.

The general right angle triangle - hypotenuse 8488 - with one acute angle = A, the other = 90 - A would be sinA * 8488 and cosA * 8488.

Thus endeth today's class.

Now it's 8489. That screws up everything.

Bacon is off the smoker. Brisket has another 3.25 hours and the pork butts have 2.5 hours.

Bloke, I am guessing from those fingerings that the previous player was using a 3-valve CC tuba. Having never seen or heard of a 3-valve CC tuba, I am optimistic that they were playing a 3-valve BBb tuba and just googled "tuba fingerings"/thought the CC designation meant non-transposed music/had an unbelievable combination of self-confidence and tin ear/etc. I say optimistic, because this is the sort of thing that makes me smile.

Of course, if it was a realistic possibility that they had a 3-valve CC tuba (hey, what do I know?) then my theory is moot.

I am now a married man! The wedding ceremony and reception were both perfect! We had a great time getting married at the Botanical Gardens and celebrating at a local brewery. Now we have a day to relax and then we're off for the honeymoon tomorrow morning!!!

It might have been the rarely-sighted (and even MORE rarely played, because it can't even play bariturd music) 3-valve French tuba in C... :P
