Tubenet is now equipped to show attachments. When composing a message, click on the "Upload attachment" tab which is right next to the Options tab below the window where you type your post.
Click "Browse". Navigate to the location on your computer where you have the image stored. Note that the image must be resized to something reasonably small--your camera software should be able to do this, but you'll have to dig around in the manual or help file to figure out how. I don't recall the maximum size, but I would recommend a size no wider than 600 or 700 pixels.
Click on the file in the browse window, and then click "OK".
You'll see the path to the file in the "Filename" box in the "Upload attachments" tab.
Click the "Add the file" button. It will take as long as it takes to upload the file to the Tubenet server. Once uploaded, you'll see a box right below where you are typing called "POSTED ATTACHMENTS". Your filename will be there.
The "Place inline" button will allow you to insert the picture at the cursor location, like this:
Or, the attachment will appear at the end of the post.
Type a comment in the "File comment" box if you want to.
Then, just preview/submit the post as usual.

Re: Update Update
Thanks, Rick. But do you know how to add pictures not in attachment form? For example, Greg's son who has just eaten Irish Soap...
And now for an update: I now have a drivers license!!!

Update:PWtuba wrote:Thanks, Rick. But do you know how to add pictures not in attachment form?
You have to host the picture somewhere on the web. Go to that place, click in the URL box on your browser, select the whole URL (it should end in JPG--if it doesn't, this won't work) and then press Control-C to copy it to the clipboard (this is different if you are Apple-afflicted).
Then, when typing the post, click the "Img" button. That will put a pair of commands with the cursor right between them. Press Control-V to insert that URL from the clipboard into your post. Click outside those two command and keep typing.
But the first step is having it hosted somewhere on the web.

Re: Update Update
Back to the main purpose of this thread, which is to provide updates on information of interest only to the updater (oops--was I supposed to admit that?).
Update:
After much searching, I was able to obtain a military surplus AB-577 antenna tower, and have bought the parts to construct a five-band hex-beam to put atop it. A full-size two-element yagi at 45 feet ought to play well on 20 meters.

UPDATE: Rick has violated one of the rules of this thread(which really didn't have any rules up until now). I recommend a severe punishment.

Re: Update Update
Everyone
We have a serious problem with our Air on the South Side
We have none.
We have lost the main blower motor and we are scrambling to replace it but we will be uncomfortable for the next 18 hours
We will be replacing it in the morning and we will be using a crane to do this
There will not be any parking available on the south end of the building, handicap or otherwise in the morning
Please park in the rear, front or north end in the morning, until we get the motor replaced.
Bear with us, as well as pray for those working on it will be safe and quick
Thanks for your cooperation on this.

Re: Update Update
Years ago, I was pretty good at stick welding. A lot of rust has accumulated on the skills. I resolved I'm going to get the stick skills back in shape to at least lawn tractor fixing level. I must stop wussing out and using the oxy-acetylene rig.
Rodovens.com sells a little 5 lb. capacity "oven" for $49 delivered. I got two of them. Results: They work. Wow! There was that much water in the rod?!?! There was considerable water condensation on the lid of the oven. Shake it off and let it cook some more until no more condensation. It took a few days. I got a bunch of rod a few years ago when Grizzly was clearing it out. So it's been sitting around for a while. I did some testing with a dried 7014 and un-dried 7014. Yeah, it makes a difference.
While I was at it, I figured I'd try exploring some of the new stuff beyond my old 230 amp Century. Which, by the way, is a very fine AC cracker box. 80-volt open circuit. Good control over low amp on sheet metal. Ball busting power on the high end.
Stuff I tried:
The little 80-amp invertor welder from Harbor Freight. Genuine piece of crap. Took it back.
The 90 amp wire feed job from Harbor Freight. I'm still debating, but so far, I'd say it's flirting with piece of crap territory. I still have it, but that's mostly the tool junkie in me rather than the welder having any real merit. I'll probably give it to somebody or throw it away one of these days after I've played with it all I want.
The 130 amp invertor (the red one) from Harbor Freight. Sweet. Thumbs up. If you can't make a good weld with this, then it's you. Did some nice, low amp runs with 5/64 and 3/32 rod (fresh from the oven) on sheet metal that was either 1/16 or 5/64.
