It's been a GREAT day here so far, Brett! Although I skipped a community band practice to get some yard work done.

The weather is great today! Got out the electric hedge clippers and chain saw and got rid of a couple hundred feet of Autumn Climatis that takes over the chain link fence in the front. Cut the blasted stuff back to ground level. Can't kill it!

Got out the mower to mulch all the brush up. The mower started right up after sitting all winter.

Life is good!

Dan, you might consider getting a herd of goats. I have a neighbor who has several lots and he moves the goats from lot to lot in a trailer. They also provide free fertilizer which is a help with 10-10-10 at 16 bucks a bag.

Funny you mention that. When my daughters were small... a friend of mine had a 'whether' goat that he had prepared to barbecue but couldn't go through with it. He gave 'Joshua' to my oldest daughter as a birthday present. We kept Josh in a fenced i/4 acre front yard for several years. He just about eliminated garbage pick-up! Josh foundered one Christmas Eve after eating several bags of sandwiches left over from a party. Ate himself to death!

Dan, another option, albeit a less natural one, is to paint the fresh cut stumps of that stuff with 2,4-D (sold commercially under various names, the stuff I get from the local farm supply store is called 'Crossbow'). You need to wear chemical gloves, and don't use near water, but I guarantee that stuff will never come back. I use it in the nastiest invasive shrub I've ever seen, bush honeysuckle. Not a scrap of it resprouts. The goat route would be cool but that is another option to consider.

The high school band I'm long-term subbing for got a division I rating at their district music contest this past Friday! I'm super pleased with them considering I've only been working with them since the beginning of March! Nice work kids!

My personal Tuba project is coming along nicely, my 2 year old daughter hasn't pulled any new daredevil stunts lately and I get to practice big time this weekend.

Our Easter meal this year will consist of three kinds of homemade pirogies (potato & blue cheese, pulled pork, and kraut w/ mushroom and bacon), home-smoked polish sausage, ham, red cabbage, 3-pea salad, chipotle-cheddar deviled eggs, homemade rye bread, homemade cannoli and cookies.

In addition to watching more NHL Stanley Cup playoff games. Let's go Buff-a-lo!!!

I've had my Miraphone 188 for just over 2 months now and couldn't be happier with it. For the first time in WAY too many years, I am 100% happy with my CC tuba. This is going to stay with me for a long, long time.

The only bad thing...

I first came to that realization about a Miraphone 188 about 6 years ago. I could've saved myself a lot of time and money, eh? Heh, live and learn I guess!

Friday was my last work day; the rest of the time between now and my official retirement at the end of June is vacation. Pension time....and fun time. Best decision I ever made was to go back to school and get my BSEE, financially at least. Not so sure on the happiness front, but what the hell I'm retired and still kicking.
