Well, back in the days when blasting the loudest was still cool, I found this nice little book where instruments of the orchestra were explained, and they had all these drawings that showed the instrument with reation to the text. So when it comes to the tuba, it describes how you can hear Fafner waking up and move with grunts and snorts in "Siegfried". The illustration shows a dragon emerging from a tuba.
So "Tubeast" is a well fitting misspelling of "Tubist"
Have a nice weekend y´all

True. And I wish it still was. Would make wood working much easierMaryAnn wrote:Didn't used to be. I remember quite clearly when a 2 X 4 was the finished size of the board.ThomasDodd wrote:As an aside, it's not incorrectly named. It's rough cut to 2x4 then fiinished.tubafour wrote:Also a reference to the incorrectly sized or named board. 2x4"

edit: that should be construction. wood working encompases too much, like carving and shapes, while I was think more about building shead and boxes.

At the time I joined the Tubenet, I had just bought a british made bass trombone keyed in G, which also features a handle on the longer than normal slide to help reach the farther positions like 6th and 7th.
Hence "Tuba-G Bass"
But my sig line always has my real name.

I'm just getting back into things. I had a symphony gig until I drove my Porsche race car (VERY bad hobby!) into the side of Pocono mountain, went through a coma, rehab, and now I still have no balance. I get around now with a walker or cane, and just started playing again in a community band. I mostly feel like a bug that hit the windshield, so...

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Mine relates to my professsion. I am a biologist and specialize in the study of freshwater mollusks. My favorite group of snails are the periwinkles, which are in the genus Elimia (you can look it up! - http://www.natureserve.org/explorer/ser ... it=Species)
Kind of geeky I know. I should have capitalized it, but forgot to hit the shift key when registering!

I am just a 43 year old guy who as a kid in high school was the epitome of the band nerd. But I really loved music and playing . Though I never had the opportunity to go to college and pursue music further I never lost the desire to play. Well 20 some odd years later I found the chance to get back in to playing ( via a community band ) and had the chance to buy a real horn and now I am just the old band berd. My kids think it funny and yet embarrasing at the same time. Just take a look at this picture of me and you will agree ..I am the old band nerd !!!!

This is one of the few forums I use my real name dmmorris (David M. Morris)......thought about changing it to "Helicon Daze", but some say I think too much.
"Helicon Daze" is the name of my little sailboat.
oh yeah.....the signature line "Beta14??....ok!"..... is explained by the state of being focused, alert, or engaged in any form of activity and related to beta waves and with a frequency of 14 -30Hz. So if your beta waves are 14HZ.....your doin' good stuff!
"Beta14ok" is also the name of a very cool song by the amazing avant-garde ensemble Doctor Nerve led by Nick Didkovsky (composer/guitarist).
