I have no idea who Perantoni is. I haven't been here long enough. I'm sure I will be educated shortly.

Perantoni as in Dan Perantoni - the "Peran" in Perantucci and famed tuba professor at Indiana University.
I believe Mr. Chisham studied with Mr. Perantoni. In the EXTREMELY early days of TubeNet, I believe the site was even hosted by the University, though not affiliated.

Re: Age poll
For what it's worth, at 60 years of age, I'm the youngest of the three tuba players in the two community bands in which I play, and sometimes direct. One fellow is in his 70's, the other in his 80's. Good players, too. It's encouraging to me to see these guys still at it.
Playing tuba is the second to last thing I'll give up.

Re: Age poll
The fact that you could go from the 6th largest to the largest in a day, invites speculation as to what's going on with the 40-50 crowd. My guess: at 40-50, your workplace isn't as likely to provide a convenient private place to goof off online. Could be more demanding or interesting off-hours action too, though.

Being trusted with a tuba does show a certain amount of maturity...Doc wrote:I'll be joining the largest demographic not too long from now.
BTW, why is 0-10 on here? It has to be for parents who come here seeking advice for their beginner player. Otherwise, what morons let their kids in that age group interact unsupervised (or at all) on the internet, much less have dedicated autonomous accounts on websites?
Actually been asked to lend a beater to a 10 year old at summer camp. Leaving the F out for a moment, what beater 3 valve top action would the TNJ feel most appropriate? Easiest answers are Miraphone, MW-10, or Besson 2-20 (if shank size is no issue)...
Thanks for playing!
