Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Re: Update Update
I'm giving out Karo syrup this year. Just a tablespoon or so per bag is more than enough. A quart bottle will last all evening!

Re: Update Update
Yeah we only had a handful - normally we see around 150 or so. It was a tough out there here for the little kids this year - temperature in the 30's, 50-60 mph winds - tons of leaves flying everywhere, and at times everything from rain, sleet, and snow flurries. Everybody who braved it got an extra handful of twix and snicker bars.schlepporello wrote:We had 6 kids come to the door tonight. Looks like I bought myself 3 bags of candy. At least I bought the stuff that I like.

On the flip side, the cutest thing I saw last night was a 2?-year old Swedish girl, in a very fancy dress and blonde pigtails. She tried to offer her candy to me, she was confused about what was going on. Too cute, hit a soft spot for me.

Re: Update Update
Does "2?-year old Swedish girl" mean around 2 years old, or between 20 and 29? Lots of guys have soft spots for the latter. I might even accept candy from one myself.bort wrote:On the flip side, the cutest thing I saw last night was a 2?-year old Swedish girl, in a very fancy dress and blonde pigtails. Clever.
This one was 2 or 3 years old. Lots of Swedish people in my apartment building, and besides being attractive, they are also all extremely nice. Very sharp contrast to typical New Yorkers (in both regards!

Re: Update Update
I have to go vote today. There are two major race candidates that I personally despise but whose politics align with mine. There are two opposing candidates that I respect personally but whose politics I cannot abide. Hmmmmmmm! My political choices seem to suck green goose **** today, but I will vote. I will vote. I will vote. I will vote. Got to keep saying that.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

When you can't vote against a witch here in Delaware, it hardly seems worth it!

The two major party candidates for my U.S. Congressional district's race have been the subject of two Daily Show segments during the past few weeks, including one last night. Funny and entertaining, yet sad and not at all surprising.

I won't vote for any major party candidate. It's all about them (and their corporate masters).

Re: Update Update
I forgot that we're voting for governor this year in New York.
Also, I wonder if we will be able to use the fancy new machines this year, or if we will still have to use the 40-year old, 1-ton metal/mechanical voting machines.

Re: Update Update
What's funny is that for a NYC primary election last year, the board of elections reverted to the old machines since it was believed that the race was going to be particularly close for the Democrats. It was indeed very close and it took a while for the candidate who placed second to concede.
So... if the old mechanical machines are more accurate (reliable?), why did we spend $ on the new computerized ones? I smell a kickback...

Re: Update Update
Well, not so much reliable that it is that they produce a physical record of the vote. I lived in Maryland the first 28 years of my life, and when they changed to electronic machines, the one mandate was that they still produced a paper receipt, so that a paper trail could be used to confirm election results. (So ***-backwards...)bighonkintuba wrote:What's funny is that for a NYC primary election last year, we reverted to the old machines since it was believed that the race was going to be particularly close for the Democrats. I suppose voter fraud is a real possibility, but even with fraud, could the elections end any worse than they usually do?
