a state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority.
Dictionary definitions like this fail to even mention that there's an anarchist political model that doesn't match that definition at all.
And even ignoring that, the definition doesn't entirely make sense if you think about it. Most of us operate in anarchic mode most of the time. At home or out with others, at work or school, compulsion of state authority isn't what keeps us from rampaging off in a disorderly pursuit of individual advantage. Many of us here experience this in bands - maybe it isn't as common as I think, but I'm in a couple of bands that manage to get along with little or no overt authority structure. Absence of authority doesn't naturally lead to disorder.
Curmudgeon wrote:"A state of disorder due to absence or nonrecognition of authority" fits their behavior well.
Not so well, really - to be strictly accurate, their relation to authority is more about defiance than failure to recognize. To call any and every spontaneous rebellion "anarchy" because there's disorder adds nothing to anyone's understanding of what's happening - it isn't like those people looked around and said, the time has come for some anarchy! Are they anarchists? not at all. And it fails to recognize, as does the dictionary, that at times in history people have indeed said that, and replaced statist authority with a more anarchist but not especially disorderly social structure.
The Old Dam Community Band gave an AWESOME concert performance tonight. I founded this group sixteen years ago and the experience just keeps getting better and better!

Gettin' ready for The Derby! Fresh mint from my yard is going into the classic Mint Julep recipe! It's a good thing this is a quick race. I'd be smashed if I had to drink through an all-afternoon event like Indy! About one hour and twenty-two minutes until race time!

It is always good to read comments such as your's, on TubeNet, HOWEVER...This is much too significant for a thread like this one(IMHO).
This morning while I was getting ready the oldest cat climbed out of her bed, walked across the floor to my bass trombone gigbag (trombone was on the stand), sat on the gigbag with her tail pointed out, and proceeded to completely empty her bladder. There was a litter box in the room not ten feet away.

Just had the valve buttons for my 1892 helicon restored by Lee Stofer. He created buttons for valves 2 and 3 to match the original button on valve 1. According to Lee, the birds woke him at 5:30 a.m. so he went out to the shop and did this. Thank you birds!!!!
Just finished a marathon trip helping a friend move from Massachusetts back to Oregon. Four days. Only one side trip to Wisconsin that was unplanned...only cost us a couple hours. I waved to a lot of people as I drove through their states. I am very glad to be home!
Just got home from playing with the Hadi Shrine Brass Band for the Spring Ceremonial. Had a bologna sandwich that had a piece of meat on it AT LEAST 1/2" thick. Guess I'd better spend the rest of the afternoon in the shop working off some calories!
