Re: Update Update
We've been on 28 cruises over the years. Princess, R/C, Carnival, Norwegian. Never had a bad cruise. Linda had to drag me on my first cruise. She never had to again. She loved the ocean.
She died suddenly Monday afternoon. 66 years old. Retired for exactly one year. She had just booked a cruise for us for Thanksgiving. Don't wait if you want to do it. Tomorrow's just a
rumor.

Sounds cool! I'd ask why it's the last ever... but I'm afraid I probably already know the answer.bloke wrote:This weekend is the last-ever "Sunset Symphony" (Memphis Symphony concert on the Mississippi River bluff downtown).

Re: Update Update
Truly sorry for your loss, but 28 cruises isn't a bad record. I agree with Wayne. Take the cruise in her honor. I can't think of a better tribute.Bowerybum wrote:We've been on 28 cruises over the years. Princess, R/C, Carnival, Norwegian. Never had a bad cruise. Linda had to drag me on my first cruise. Re: Update Update
Here is what Pohlman had to say about that. "AutoZone has a rich history of philanthropy and is committed to cultural and community enrichment programs, especially in our hometown of Memphis. We know that Memphis in May will replace the Sunset Symphony with another stellar program and continue to provide a positive economic and educational impact on the city we all love,” said Ray Pohlman, Vice President of AutoZone.
I vote that they replace it with the "Jazz Ramblers". What could be more Mississippi River than that?

Kind of makes me well up too, and I don't even like Memphis. Of course my feelings are mostly caused from having to drive through it regularly. I found it interesting that Balter put such a hug on Mr. Hyter at the end, considering he was about to fire him.

Never let the vicissitudes of musical life get in the way of a good show...

Re: Update Update
So while I was walking to the front of the parade route this morning wearing my 1892 Helicon, I happened upon a biker dude and his chick. Not to miss an opportunity for good public relations, I smiled and said,"You into heavy metal?" He about fell over laughing. His chick looked at me and her guy and then said, "how about Metalica?" I said, "Hmmm, did Sousa write that?" "Maybe if you hummed a few bars..." Then we all realized we not from the same planet.

I am reminded of a time when I played in a dixieland combo at a church function, and as I was leaving with my sousaphone, a very enamored young man said "Oh, that is a very big trumpet" in a very hushed voice.

I thought it hilarious that the "Anvil Cam" led right up to the "Get a little drunk" phrase. Talk about getting into the music!

Schleppy, What's the range on this thing? It might be just what I need for my Carpenter Bee problem.

Re: Update Update
The way I'm reading it, the 24" etc. numbers are distance, and the scale to the right is inches. So roughly at a couple feet distance, you're throwing a 2" pattern, and at four feet you're really not in the game. Probably not much point in attaching a scope to it.

These are my two most deadly weapons now but both have drawbacks. Range for the racquet and accuracy for the spray.

Personally I'm thinking this is what I need to shoot the boys with when they come to pick up my little Princess for a date. Granted, she is only 4 1/2 right now so I have some time to wait, but it is never too early to start planning.schlepporello wrote:I just saw this advertised on TV for $39.
