I went for my first motorcycle ride of the season today. Capped it off with salmon on the Traeger and steaks on the grill. I believe that there will still be a month of winter left for me here in the Pacific Northwet.

I desperately needed a new laptop, and have had to put it off for quite a while. I was finally able to get my new one this weekend. It's light years better than what I was using before!

Same defect in mine, and I believe it's because it came uncabled. No doubt due to my own clumsiness taking the thing apart and putting it back together; it would probably be easy to fix, but who knows what would break this time. It isn't set up for convenient access to internals. I rarely attach the mouse though, as the operating system I'm using has pretty good keyboard navigation and I'm not using it for anything that needs better, mostly just read email there.

Glad yours is a surivor, Joe. My old laptop is still functional, but for what I needed it to do, it was just too old and couldn't keep up. It was also pretty heavy, and a hassle to take to school.

To replace it, I bought a Surface Pro 4. I've probably spent about 24 hours on it over the last 2 days (woo grad school!), and I don't have a single complaint about it. It's just been perfect for my needs so far -- and WAY better than the new MacBook Pro I have to use for work. FWIW, I think Windows 10 is GREAT, but I can easily understand why others don't like it.

I'll admit, with all of the commercials and advertising, it DOES seem like a gimmicky device... but after trying it out, it's actually a very well designed and versatile machine. If you need something like that (and I did), it's great!

Well after struggling with a spine injury and having multiple surgeries (because they messed up on the first one) I am being medically discharged from the army. The process will take about a year. Gives me time to heal a bit more and figure out my life from here. Playing and carrying around music gear is still pretty challenging. Guess I'll see where life takes me.

Remember kids, lift with your legs. You only get one spine so don't mess it up.

Same here - I'm lucky so far, but I've seen it do what it does to the previous couple generations of my paternal line, no laughing matter. Take it easy, but don't get too far out of shape in the process.

Why do the cashiers at Home Depot always ask for a job number at checkout? If I'm pushing a stroller and buying one light bulb, isn't that kind of a clue?

It happened today, and when they asked me for a number, I made up a 12-digit number, just so they would have to type it in. Next time, it'll be a 30-digit code.

Nope... just me... with my kid in-arms... in the "regular" line... buying small stuff... with cash...

I also noticed that the self-checkout lanes *require* you to enter a job ID number before you can proceed. So stupid...

Maybe your store, or region, is doing a test of some new software in the checkout computers? Or has a glitch in what they have? I tend to agree with the others that the request for a job name or number is not universal. They may need your feedback to straighten it out.
