I guess I should just haul off me own trash. We switched to a trash/recycle program a few years ago. There are two different containers and two different pickup days. It doesn't seem to matter as many times the recycle is considered 'contaminated' and goes as trash anyway. Yesterday I put out the trash container and it was filled with ordinary trash that included a bunch of expanded foam from a construction project and had a few stones on top. It was passed by because it was too heavy. It's true that it was a bit top heavy and I suppose the trash guy flipped open the lit and saw all of the foam chunks and declared to the office that it couldn't be handled. There are hydraulic dumpers on the trucks. I'm thinking that with me being a 72 year 'old guy' was able to get the can to the curb... the trash guy just wasn't interested in exerting himself. On top of passing it by... when they picked up the recycle today... they knocked over the trash can scattering the rocks and foam in my yard. Needless to say. The customer service call was NO help.

I love company slogans like "Quality since 1963"

I interpret this as "before 1963, it was real crap."

Private service. After threatening to cancel my service I got a call from a 'manager' offering to come and resolve the situation on Monday. We'll see.

I always suspected that there was a manager of violas, but I was never able to catch one...

I used to haul my own trash to the transfer station, but after several hot summers, and stinky maggot-laden garbage, I decided that hiring a carting company was money well-spent.....

I got paid to play today. Not much for just over an hour's worth of play*, but it a pleasant change from playing for free.
*Please note: I didn't call it work.

That could change A LOT. Make sure your tuba is still covered under you homeowners insurance. :D

Just got back from our 19th Anniversary celebration in Virginia Beach, VA. Stayed at the recently remodeled Cavalier Hotel there. People used to have enough sense to build hotels a block or two from the shoreline on a hill.

The new beachfront hotel should be finished next Summer, and be underwater in 10 to 30 years... depending...

My aunt (b. 1917, lived to age 96) was my surrogate mother, as she long outlived my mother (b. 1916, lived to age 82).
My aunt completely viewed her personal worth in terms of what she could do for others.
In her last two or three years, she really couldn't do much, and she would write down prayers asking God why she was still on earth.
One of those was printed on the back of the program at her funeral service.

You knew even more cool people than I previously realized....

Listened to the whole collection to and from the Eastern Shore over the weekend.

Mrs. Assunto has a great voice. Reminded me a little of Kay Starr!!
