Good reads

I ride the bus to work and home (about an hour each way), and am always looking for suggestions for reading material. What have any of you read lately that you could recommend?

I'll start with the two best books I've read this year, one fiction and one non-fiction.

The Plot Against America, by Philip Roth. (An alternative WWII history, beginning with FDR losing the 1940 election to Charles Lindberg - but I think the author is using the fictional setting to give an autobiography of his childhood.)
God's Politics, by Jim Wallis. (He makes the most compelling and honest arguments for the proper role of religion in politics and policy, and is equally critical of Republicans and Democrats.)

OK, what can you add to the list? (Preferrably ones that are likely to be available at a small public library.)

Thanks

a try.
I need something for the bus rides that is a little more productive than PDA Tetris.

I saw this on BookTV last weekend.

Looks like a good read, as does Christina's other book The WAR AGAINST BOYS: How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men

And I've wanted to find time for this one.

Looks to be a great read.

If you're into religious fiction I highly recommend "Towing Jehovah" by James Morrow. I won't attempt to give a summary or review, except to say that I really, really enjoyed it.

Given current events, you might try "The Johnstown Flood" by David McCullough.

"The Supreme Court" by William Rehnquist is the best book I've read so far this year.

"The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom" by Slavomir Rawicz is un-put-downable.

"Seven Years in Tibet" by Heinrich Herrier is also very good.
