I had the honor of having a former student selected as a cadet at West Point. There is a different kind of mentality to the cadet that joins the corps of cadets there, and the difference is magnified if the cadet succeeds in receiving a commission. There is a lot of intellegence, discipline and focus contained in a cadet. It is good to see these outstanding people in action.

Don't get me wrong. There are fine officers that do not go through the Point. Some will even make the ranks of general officer. The point is that football will never be the reason for a cadet being at the academy, and neither should it be. It is truely a place where academics takes a higher stand over athletics and extra-curricular activities.

Your family has the right to be pleased and proud of your nephew. Congratulations.

Perhaps some one should notify the coach at the Air Force Academy of this fact.

And Doc, as a Marine, let me congradulate you nephew and the whole family on his choice and for his success....OOOOORAH!
