Favorite Soprano

Post by Chuck(G) »

Just heard that "Glorious", a play about the one-in-a-millenium soprano, Florence Foster Jenkins, is opening in London and New York:

Take that, Pavarotti!

P.S. One problem I have with Jenkins is her rather small voice. Natalia De Andrade had a voice that was truly awe-inspring (Have a listen to the QT link on this page):

Right up there with Florence Foster Jenkins?

You're lucky that Ms. Graham doesn't put out a contract for your elimination... :)

My favorite (serious) soprano of all time has got to be Amelita Galli-Curci. Incredible control and impeccable intonation and diction. Strange that she comes from the same era as FFJ, isn't it?

Are we limited to natural sopranos or can we pick a "castrati" soprano as our favorate?
