Nothing stinks worse than football fans (of any flavor) and all the stinkin\' **** that goes along with that entire scene.

Two football coaches at my high school were fired for molesting girls, and another one was a gd asshole who decided the band members were a bunch of pussies (since we were some of the biggest guys in the school, but were not interested in going out for football) and treated us - individually - like **** the entire time he and we were there. He is dead now, and that is a good thing. I hope they buried him with a jock strap over his rotting face. Unfortunately, millions of people like him still live.

It's more or less contempt. :-)

Since I'm going to be in Athens this Sunday, I'll stop now.

Doug.....amen to that. I work with the marching band here, and we sat next to part of the GT student section. Knowing how rowdy and intoxicatingly-stupid our Ga fans get, I was not surprised when I basically acted less like a band director and more like a bouncer for that entire game. Oh, and I never want to smell Jack Daniel's again. It wafted from the student section for the entire game. I guess I just don't understand the whole, let's-get-unbelievably-plastered-and-go-watch-a-football-game mentality.

Hope to see you Sunday, and for anyone else who happens to find themselves in or around Athens this weekend, please feel free to drop by the Classic Center downtown around noon and join us for our TubaChristmas concert. Info and directions are on the TubaChristmas website.

Oh, to have the wisdom of Athletic Associations that schedule these games at 8 pm. Most of those kids had probably been drinking since 8 am.

Oh, BTW, Cale, this year's Redcoats are probably the best-sounding group Ugag has put out since I started paying attention to college bands. My congratulations. Sorry to hear about the one tuba guy breaking his foot, though. :(

Thanks. We actually ended up with three or four tuba injuries by last week. One broken foot, and two severely sprained ankles (which I suspect were a result of "surfing" on the sousa cases before the game). We ended up with a mellophone and a piccolo alternate carrying sousas at the SEC championship last weekend!

Thanks for the compliment, I'm still trying to figure out the whole tailgating culture. For our homecoming, we met at 6AM to rehearse the alumni band. While walking to our rehearsal field, I happened to pass by some tailgaters already out, cooking breakfast, watching ESPN, aptly ready with miller light's in hand. And I thought I had a drinking problem!!!
