Oh, um.. it's almost 11 o'clock.

I used to think that my right ear's hearing curve was a little beat up by having drumlines off to my right side so often, but I think it's actually because of when I bumped into a pot of boiling water when I was just a little boy. That hurt.

I do think the Tastee Bros. are funny as hell, but only for a few minutes; then I have to get back to more normal stuff.

Well, under normal circumstances, I'd tell your grumpy *** to piss off, take a Geritol and move on. If you don't like what's being broadcast, then guess what... CHANGE THE CHANNEL, JACKASS.

However...

Since I'm apparently the only person who *hadn't* heard this before yesterday, and thought it was so funny I had tears streaming down my face, I thought I'd get all caught up in the Christmas spirit and share it with the forum. My bad.

So...

In the interest of good Christian harmony, and maintaining a good signal-to-noise ratio here on the BlokeNet, I'll let this post live for one week, then take it down. Should give the one or two folks on the board who haven't heard it a chance to do so.

So let's all make a New Year's resolution to get out from behind the button box more often, and for those who don't care to listen, please move on to the next post.

Just kidding, Bloke. This is one of those guilty pleasures for a lot of us, and there's always someone in the bunch who's never heard it. Just pretend we're not here, and focus on the silver vs. lacquer questions for a bit, and we promise not to email you any tastee-tunes!

For those who don't know Bloke, his shoes really AREN'T too tight, and his heart is large. He'd not only carve the roast beast, he'd likely spring for it and offer up some good sippin' whiskey to go with it. He's not really a grouchy ol' horse's behind; he just plays one on TubeNet!

Sounds like a personal problem to me, but I know what a PITA it can be getting unwanted email. Being a fixed target - "my name @ my name dot com" - it ain't as easy as changing your username like an AOL account. I've had to employ a spam filter to fend off the 200 or so spams I was getting everyday. Still, I haven't fogotten how to hit the "delete" key. Quick, and painless.

I'm really a "stop me if you've already heard this" kinda guy, and don't cotton to the idea of telling jokes to a bunch of people who've already heard them ad nauseum. When I posted this file, I had no idea where it'd come from, and had never heard anything like it before. When someone mentioned Tastee Bros to me, I posted a follow-up link. A quick search located around five or so previous postings on TubeNet, none of which I'd ever seen.

Still, I can't help but think this might help...

Sorry to see you're agita about the whole thing. It *is* just a sound clip, after all. While not all would agree as to it being "in good taste" or not, a lot of people find it pretty GD funny, including me.

Ahhh, yes... public forums.

Create a filter that automatically moves a message containing tastee, tastee_christmas, or trumpetchristmas to the trash. You might have to play with capitalization variants a bit too.

It'll still download to you computer, but you've got fast enough access to not notice.
At least you won't see it anymore.

I have several filters for common hoaxes that I get/got a lot. Got tired of reading them each time to see what it was.

Naw, the spam filter catches those. It the jokes, funny picture, and stories that I get 10+ copies of from different people I know that I get sick of. You think cool Bob just sent me a funny joke, the you read it and realize that Joe sent it last week. Even wores, is Bob got it from Joe and I was on the CC list then, yet Bob goes ahead and sends it to me again.

So after I get a something twice, I create a filter and usually don see it again. If I do, I tweak the filter a bit. That way I see the new bits, and don't step on anyone's toes.

Especially when it's accompanied by a multi-megabyte MP3 and you're on dialup like I am when at home.

My father just got a digital camera. After the first two-hour download, I showed him how to save the images as JPEGs. We're down to just under a meg. Downsampling the images is more than I can teach him over the phone, heh, heh.
