I remember two or three years ago I chaperoned a highschool band trip to Prince Edward Island (in the Eastern maritimes of Canada). Anyways, our stupid bus driver kept on talking and talking about golf, how much he played and how good he was. He insisted that the entire band go to a golf course (apparently PEI has very good golf courses).
I had never played golf before (besides mini golf) and was a little apprehensive. Anyways, we ended up going to a golf course, and our bus driver had his "golf uniform" under his bus uniform. He had a stereotypical outfit - the hat and the plaid clothing, like a cheezy Chevy Chase movie.
He also brought along his really expensive golf clubs from home. All the kids broke off into their own groups while I got stuck with the bus driver, the music director and the other chaperones. I thought for sure I was going to totally embarass myself.
Anyways, the first drive was made by the bus driver. When he hit the ball it went straight left at like a 90 degree angle and into the bushes. At that moment I knew that it wouldn't be so bad. He's one of those people that really enjoyed mocking me and the music director. I actually did fairly well... but did get very bored of it after the first hour (just like I do at contemporary music concerts... and Mozart).
I still remember what the bus driver said when we arrived at EVERY destination - "Get the hell out!"
Man, I should have got him fired!
- this was an expensive coach bus line

I just took a golf class this last semester in college. I had never played golf up to that point. I am horrible, but I like it and hopefully I will get better.
I supposedly "make really good contact" for a beginner.

My brother and I, many years ago, used to enjoy golf the way it is meant to be enjoyed. We would first stop at the smoke shop and buy us each a large, expensive cigar (also known as a "dog turd" cigar). We rented a golf cart and carried with us a small cooler of beer.
....
Oh yeah, and we played some golf too.

Back in high school I took a girl on our first date to a putt-putt golf course.
I stood too closely behind her and her backswing opened a deep cut on top of a huge bump on my forehead. She was not sympathetic or appologetic so I dumped her. Too bad, she had such a cute booty.

about 15 years ago I thought I would give it a try. Finally after a few rounds of 100+ scores I decided, either I put a lot of time and effort into this endeavor to be good or forget it.
New clubs, some lessons, greens fees, driving range, at least one or two nights a week?????
I finally figured it would be like learning to play another instrument and gave up and went and bought anohter tuba instead......
Now my kids want to try it, so here we go again.
