Getting Old

Post by Kevin Miller »

I just turned 40 in December and I feel so terribly old. The other day I was in the check out line at a local grocery store and KISS' "Rock & Roll All Night" came on the MUZAK! KISS on MUZAK!! Isn't that one of the seven signs of the Apocalypse?

I heard a Muzak "Highway to Hell" with pizzicato strings in about 1983. I've not been the same since!

I'm not sure, but if Gene Simmons conducts the 101 Strings, start thinking about a conversion plan! :D

While riding the bus a few weeks ago, I hears some teens conversing about the type of music they liked.

Teen 1: " I love classical music"

Teen 2: " What do you listen to?"

Teen 1: " Oh, the Beatles . . . Rolling Stones . . . stuff like that"

Reminds me of getting a birthday card: "Happy Birthday! See you soon. Love, God"

My son recently discovered my CD collection of 80s music. He thinks that it's cool to like music written before he was born.

I'm keeping my Steppenwolf and Foghat away less he thinks I'm an old foggey - too late

As they say...

If you can remember the 60's, then you weren't there!

Yep... I resemble that remark! It's a bitch getting old! I'm 39 this year with possible liver issues that cause me to eat better, exercise more and everything else... There are the genitic few that don't have any problems but I think for the majority of us we all face some kind of "wake up call" around this time in our lives. No more eating those greasy foods and good beer. But we continue as best we can. Keep playing music, it's the only thing that won't change... :)

You can look forward to celebrating your 50th with your first colonoscopy. You'll also begin to suspect that you should have taken better care of yourself.....

You know, when I first read the above post, I have to admit that my definition of the word "HUMP" was slightly different than the posters. I now know better...

Pshaw! I've had all that stuff. I married 'the blond' and it took me 27 years to figure out that I couldn't stand her. The Harley leaked oil... and Corvettes are REALLY over-rated...

I am 64, play in a rock band, have lots of cool toys and a neat wife and I like my son and grandson. If I can stay out of debt, I will consider myself one of the luckiest fools to ever tread this planet.
We ( John Reno and the half-fast Creekers) have been invited to play in Galveston, Texas July 28 for a Parrothead party. I hear a lot from Texas tuba players on this forum. If we can find a way to hook up and drink beer, we should do it.

Holy Moley, Joe, that's a nice pad!

You ARE getting old. Thinking of getting one of those lead-injection face lifts, eh?

If you're an "oldbandnerd" at 43, what does that make those of us about to turn 50?
