I thought that I'd bring this "off"-topic over here, instead of straying from a copyright thread on the forum.

My Google settings were PG-13. I'll edit my list. Thanks!

Gee thanks for giving all those non-TubeNet lawyers free publicity.

Can I add my firm web-site without becoming a TubeNet Sponsor.

I have not looked at all these sites but I would question how David Greeberg's discrimination law site is "over the top". I find it to be well laid out, factual, and informative. Informing folks what rights they have and how they may be exercised is what we lawyers do. In addition to being a profession, a private law practice is a business enterprise and entitled to use appropriate means to reach potential customers. Prior to the mid-1970s, lawyers, by their own ethical canons, were prohibited from advertising. A number of consumer groups forced changes permitting lawyers to advertise. I don't advertise in general media and am bothered by some of the ads I see on TV. Truth is, folks tend to remember the flashy graphic ads some of these folks use. They wouldn't remember propounding, in a calm voice, the elements of a prima-case of age discrimination, even if I had a tuba playing in the background (Well . . . maybe I should . . . "ARE YOUR CAREER PROSPECTS FLAT? . . . HAS YOUR BOSS BEEN SHARP WITH YOU??? . . . PUT YOUR PEDAL TO THE METAL AND CALL . . .".

Tort law.

Good article in this month's Forbes about the potential $22B in claims against Wyeth. Much of this due to lawyers being a little too creative and colluding with doctor's to fabricate results.

Forget it--we're not going to reform the legal profession.

Language betrays us at every turn, it seems. I'm sure you meant to say there are a lot of competent but impecunious attorneys that work for non-profits and such.

Because they are often seen advocating for evil.

Yes, I know that's their job. But do they have to glorify it so much? Where are the trial lawyers associations complaining about the excesses of, say, Boston Legal? What do lawyers expect when they publish billboards that say things like, "Winning isn't about truth, it's about how you fight!" (that's an actual billboard from one of the more noteworthy ambulance chasers in San Antonio when I lived there).

Lisa,
I have a older lady lawer who has been helping my family try to gain custody of our 4 year old grandson from a truly evil daughter-in-law.
This lady is 5 foot nothing and her voice can barely project 10 feet so her opponent is shouting her down and bullying the young female judge.
This fine lady brought in a partner who can out shout the opposition and out bully the young judge and is only charging us for the second attorney and assisting her for free. She said she feels responsible for failing to win earlier and that the child must win at any cost.
That's integrity and more!
Her name is Linda Howard from Foley, Alabama.

Perhaps the term "honest lawyer" isn't an oxymoron, after all.
