I was wanting to ask any of you here if you have been at the studios where they tape "The Price is Right" or know of someone who has been there.

My question has to do with whether you had to wait in line for a long time and did you have to arrive very early to get a good seat. What is the usual procedure for that?

One of our drummers was a contestant. He never got off of contestants row though cause someone bid $1 over his would be winning guess.

I have never been on the show but I have been to the World Famous Farmers' Market (3rd and Fairfax) down the street from Television City (they used to say "Television City in Hollywood..." It's not far from Hollywood but it's not in Hollywood.) When they are taping "The Price is Right" it almost looks like opening night of a hit movie at the local cinema, except that people are dressed sort of strange. Your best bet is contacting the people who do the show and see what they say about getting on...

By the way, when I was in Vietnam this past December, I saw their version of "The Price is Right." It wasn't all that different. Same decor and games. Same production company.

I have a friend from Shippensburg University who went there on a band trip. I'm not sure how long it took, but apparently, the contestants are pre-picked, not selected randomly. To determine who is "good enough" to be on the show, they make you participate in an interview or some bullcrap like that.

Well, I had better chime in being a native Angelino. For one thing, Farmers Market isn't anything like it used to be. There is a new "super-hip" mall called "The Grove" there that looks and feels like every new outdoor mall trying to be Rodeo Drive. I do recommend the pancakes at Du-pars, which is still there. Actually the original Farmers Market is still pretty much in tact.

I did go see "The Price is Right" one time in 1992. The chick I went with, it was a date, actually won everything. She won a go-cart and some furniture, $1,000 on the spin, and the show-case-showdown. She actually won a small aircraft on the showdown. That was far-out, but she ended up selling it and just about everything else to pay the taxes. I think she won $40,000 and after the hasle of selling everything, actually came out with about $6,000 in pocket cash.

The producers of the show quickly interview the people in line, and talk to ones who interest them longer. They skipped right over me, because when they asked me my name I told them "My name is keep me off your stupid show." But the chick I was with was real enthusiastic. She was such a stupid bimbo. She jumped up and down and talked about how excited she was about the show and how she had always dreamed of being there. She was totally sincere, and an obvious pick for the production team.

If you are going to be in Los Angeles, don't waste your time at CBS. Go check out Venice Beach, where you get the Pacific and a great view of 10,000 weirdos. The Warner Bros. Studio tour, although it's $50, is an absolute treat and unlike Universal Studios. You get an on-lot tour with an experienced guide and actually get to walk into soundstages and sets that aren't shooting.

Really, there isn't much family fun around here these days. Maybe you could join in an actual Mexican protest and be one of the few to ever actually walk around on the LA freeways.

Whatever you do, get out of town fast. This place is bound to explode soon.
