When I was in high school, back in the days of the All-Western Band Review, there was a high school band in Lancaster, California, called the Antelope Valley High School Band.

Now Antelope Valley was a good band. They always placed high in competition. They had a good sound and a good look. 30-35 years ago, the band had about 120-150 members with an all-girl tuba section with 8-10 players. They all looked like beauty queens; in fact, I think a couple were. I don't ever remember seeing any of the girls fat or unbecoming.

Lancaster is in the desert. The place has grown a lot through the years. There is another high school in Lancaster now, Lancaster High School. The Antelope Valley High School Band is a shadow of what it once was.

Reminiscing is fun!

Geeze, I never had a quintet with someone that was THAT "positive and enthusiastic"...

I remember my 30 year high school reunion last year... This was the first one I went to, since I have either been out of the area, state, or country for the last four reunions (there was no 25th.)

Anyway, many alumnae who were big girls in high school were now thin and the thin girls had a few extra pounds. Even though I am only 5'10" and 200 pounds, I was amongst the largest of the male alumni. I don't consider myself to be a big person.

As I said before, reminiscing is fun.

eh... Good for her, I guess; but there's another lady tuba player named Deanna that (for my money) is far more appealing...

I think there is a tuba lady named Carol that I have the warmies for.
I bet she can play faster than Doc. (He's faster than greasy lightning.)

Yeah, if there were only a way to realize Dr. Phibes' dream:

I think this tuba chick is pretty cute, if only she would learn to take her fingers out of her nose.

I use a Russian e-mail/home page server because they give me unlimited space for a free webpage. It's what I use to store the pictures you see that I post on Tubenet.

When I go to my pochta.ru mailbox, I get a flash picture of a young woman's belly betton that drives me nuts. You can't see her face and it's dark, so it could be my Vietnamese girlfriend. But it's such an alluring picture...

Yeah, Chuck! The BBC article is correct.

8)

It works 75% of the time (to get the girl's picture, I mean.)

I tried it a few times and keep getting either a motorcycle or high performance tires. Even so, I find them strangely arousing.

I'm with you, Joe -- she's a very talented player, teacher & conductor (and fun to hang around with)! :D

Thank you, Chuck(G) for the BBC article. I love stuff like that.

Hey tooter, give 'em a break... the fairer sex comes in pretty handy when you fail to notice a trivial thing like a mountain until it's too late... :D

I liked Deanna's photo.
She can toot my tuba any time she pleases.
