Thats the trouble with you Celts, you bottle out far too quickly - Sven and the boys will carry the flag for you as you ain't got any representation (again!!!!!).

Brazil will win - then its anyone's guess from Argentina, Germany, France - an outside bet on one of the emerging nations try Japan or South Korea.

I am really looking forward to the next few weeks, I am sure we are in for a true footie fest

I have followed Brasil for years , my brother Mike visited Brasil twice back in the 1990's always liked the style of football and have many dvd's / videos on Joga Bonita and Samba style football , the best one is the 1970 world cup final ( 4-1 hammering of Italy in Mexico the best team performance ever in my opinion), apart from Supporting wolves , I follow Corinthians in the Brasillian League.
the link with Wales and Brasil goes back to 1958 and Wales only apperance in the World Cup , Wales were narrowly beaten by Brasil in the quarter finals and the respect for the Brasilians goes back then and carries on now .
If England win or become runner up in there group the 1st opponant after in the last 16 are Germany , after so many near misses , we were robbed etc..I don't think there is much hope , yes if they beat Germany they can go on to win , but look at Germany , quietly effictient , Brasil , Argentina , France , Italy..I don't know if there will be many shocks like 2002 , a lot of the south korean squad play in europes top leagues so no suprises for teams like Italy etc...
still hope Brasil make it no6 , if not would be good to see England do well , just think Germany will have a few suprises like 2002( unrated and underestimated to end up Runner Up)

Curse American TV for not showing the World Cup. It's because there aren't any timeouts for commercials.

Hopefully the Mexican channel would air it. I really want to see ronaldinho play. Is Oliver Kahn still playing for Germany?

Will he make the dream team with Micheal Owen ?

Life continues to improve

And ain't it great that we get to watch all the games at sensible times and not 2.00 am

Bring it on

USA got the toughest draw of the whole field. It sucks. They have to compete with Czech Republic AND Italy in Group E, and then, if they manage to get second place in the group, will advance to play Brazil (assuming Brazil finishes first in their group) in the round of 16. Of course, if we take care of business and beat the Czechs and Italians in our first two matches, it'll be relatively smooth sailing!

Every match of the World Cup will be shown on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC. All live. Check out this site for the details.

oops my bad. The last World Cup, the only thing american networks showed was the final game. I had to watch the WC in spanish at 1 in the morning.

That, and I've only had cable for a year so I've been missing out on alot

TV coverage in the states surprises me. I mean, for the World Baseball Classic, they didn't even BROADCAST half the games unless you paid for em on MLB.com...

But back to a sport that people out the US (and Caribbean, and Japan) care about. We had a great soccer team in high school, and actually had a soccer band. I've even been to a few matches here at my college. But I must admit, the only time I care about pro soccer is the World Cup. USA all the way (or at least out of our death group)! Maybe? I hope.

I had tickets to go with some friends of mine, but we figured it wouldn't be the best time to walk around in another country with stuff that USA all over us...

Soccer?? Meh.

I wish I could watch cricket over here in the US...I've always been fascinated by the game, and would like to actually watch it, at least once!!!

Any of you folks from the UK know of a website where I can watch???

I went to a couple of World Cup games when it was in the US years ago. One was with Italy and someone else, and the other was some South American teams (who remembers these things?). I only went because someone gave me some tickets and I thought my children might be interested. They were the most boring sports events I have ever seen. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of any sports, but these games are great if you have insomnia.

My local ABC station decided to show an infomercial featuring a pyramid scheme run by two midgets instead of Mexico vs. Iran. Anyone else have anything like that this afternoon?

I just wanted to watch and boo Iran. Sadly, I'll be working out in the woods tomorrow when the US plays its first match. Heres hoping for a win.

Americans got thrashed 3-0 by the Czechs. The worst part of the programming though, was the commenting telling what what the US should do throughout the entire game, especially the second half.

Italy vs Ghana was a much more entertaining game.
