Just an aside that Doug Yeo's comment about Sax trying a clarinet mouthpiece on an ophicleide and "inventing" the saxophone made me think of...
Although I've performed on C ophicleide, when in a pinch, I've used a bass trombone mouthpiece in a barry sax. You get a very nice ophicleide sound with the added plus of a full Boehm system!

In addition to the great information provided on the ophicleide, both Doug Yeo and Dan Oberloh make some wise observations about the way we communicate with each other, particularly via the internet.
