Library sales are great.

Post by tubafatness »

Today was the day of the big annual sale of all of the local library's surplus stuff. This year, they are getting rid of their entire LP section. I had a field day, just look at some of th stuff I got!

Wagner "The Flying Dutchman" Chicago Symphony w/ Solti
Messiaen "Turangalila-Symphonie" London Symphony w/ Andre Previn
Respighi The Roman Trilogy Philadelphia Orchestra/ Ormandy
Wagner "Die Walkure" Vienna Philharmonic w/ Solti
Wagner "Siegfried" Vienna Philharmonic w/ Solti
Holst/Vaughn-Williams "Music for Winds" London Wind Orchestra w/ Denis Wick, (got it because the tuba players are Stephen Wick and John Fletcher.)
Vaughn-Williams Pastoral Symphony and Tuba Concerto ft. John Fletcher
Philip Jones Brass Ensemble "in Switzerland"
Tashi "Plays Messiaen:Quartet for the End of Time"
Berlioz "Symphonie Fantastique" New York Philharmonic w/ Bernstein
Mahler "Symphony No. 6" Chicago Symphony w/ Solti
Debussy "La Mer" Chicago Symphony w/ Reiner

I got many more, but I'm tired from looking through all of them. Point of this post: take advantage of library sales! If I had my way, half of the library's lp section would be in my room right now, next to semi-new turntable, (one of those fancy one's with a radio and CD player as well.)

's cool and cheap if you still own a turntable and can put up with a lot of scratches!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

They couldn't take all that feedback, so they had to let him go, and replaced him with Herb Alpert.
