You should check out Evelyn Glennie's website for her take on deafness. Deafness does
not mean inability to hear, it just means your ears don't work. Your whole body hears, your ears just do the most visible part(is that a pun?).
Evelyn Glennie can't hear with her ears, hasn't since she was kid.. but she has perfect pitch, and an amazing sense for acoustics(she can tell the acoustics of a room by how "thick" the air is).. she's a world class percussionist who's performed with the world's best orchestras, and an amazing composer.
oh yeah, and she's GORGEOUS.
