One thing you do not do in Italy is take an Italian opera LIGHTLY!

(Or react lightly. Hey- he could've give the audience the one-armed salute!)

...especially when you're paying $2,000 for a ticket. (That'll buy a lot of CDs!)

...and it wasn't the "middle" of the performance either--it was his first aria; only a few minutes into the opera.
