How about bombardonaist? It's no more aggravating to say or harder to remember than tubaist. :roll:
If people are going to go to all that trouble, why not have some fun and say fart-hornist? :D

I thought that "bombardon" was restricted to bass (not contrabass) tubas. At least the parts that I've seen run that way.

I remember a book I read in college, the Treatise on the Military Band by H.E. Adkins, Lieutenant Colonel Adkins mentioned an instrument called a circular bass. From the picture, it looked like your typical, everyday BB-flat helicon.

Published by Boosey & Co., Ltd., in 1931. It's an interesting book if you can find it.
