The sad fact is that the mindless index funds are the best performers over time--and you don't need a high-paid fund manager to run an index fund.

I'd have to agree with Chuck. INdex funds tend to do the best over the long haul.

FWIW, I have used a few different mutual funds firms. The best I have been involved with is Vanguard. They seem to be fairly professional and have a good selection of funds.

Their total market index fund seems to be very accurate and appreciates money appropriately.

Joe just remember:

r(i)=r(RF)+MRP+DRP+IP.....

Check out Legg Mason Value Trust Fund (ticker symbol: LMVTX). Both my wife and I have our Roth IRA's invested in this one and add to it every year. Bill Miller is the fund Mgr. and has beaten the S+P for more than for 13 years.
