James Mandeville, 20, was charged with having just over 1 gram of marijuana, and the charge was dismissed Monday morning.
That barely enough to roll a joint, depending on the moisture content. A typically cigarette contains 1g of tobacco and it is very dry compared to most cannabis. Typically a joint contains 1/2 to 1 g of cannabis, so they got the one he was smokinging and the one he had in his pocket for later.
They seized 9 grams of powder cocaine, 12.5 grams of marijuana, 13.5 grams of mushrooms, two tanks of nitrous oxide, 23 Xanax pills, 34 hydrocodone pills and one handgun.
12.5g = 0.44 oz. wow what a haul. A quick check show the street price at $24/ 0.25 oz and $75/oz in AR and $80-$100/oz in Memphis. So that was a whopping $50 worth they found.
Similar check shows that cocaine is running around $50/g, so a little better there, but still only $450 worth, unless sold in different quantities.
No figure that was probably several pounds of each on Beale St, they really are making a big dent.

I have to agree with Bloke in that no one under the age where they can reasonably well-informed decisions should be allowed to an event where all this stuff is going to be going on.
however, I also must agree with the cops on this one... not too bad...
a total of 12 grams of pot? thats not really alot, only $120 dollars worth in Ithaca

I've been lurking a bit. Busy with work and the Cadillac, and Boy Scouts.
BTW, PM/email me about what's going on with the Generals. No word form Nolan

Agreed. How much of the increased strength is related to it's legal status though?
Does beer/wine today have more alcohol than 50 years ago? Tobacco have more nicotine (not counting the bump some cigarette makers give it. I mean the raw tobacco as grown)
No one (imo) has any business allowing their under-18 children to attend such events un-chaperoned, and others (imo) should stay home.
Didn't disagree with that either. Just social commentary on the ineffectiveness of the current control attempts.
Seam rather odd to be bragging that they confiscated less than 1/2 and oz. when over a pound was likely present. The street value of what was found was less than what the cops were paid for the time finding it.

I think it was a very bad weekend. I'm sure there was more, they just didn't find it.
And $120 for less than 1/2 oz? Is cannabis that expensive up there?

Generally ten a gram (I don't partake, but have friends that do) I heard its "good stuff" and about half the cost of stuff in the city...
and now back to less illegal topics........

But as your freinds will tell you, you don't buy a gram at a time. Usually a 1/4 oz or more (weighed at 7g usually) and priced around $35-40. Quantity discopunts apply as well.
In the late '80 I remember people paying $40/quarter, but getting and ounce for $100, 1/2 lb for 600, and a pound for $1000. (Yeah I knew some bad people back then) The trends I've seen in published street price info I've found shows it back to similar prices after a brief rise in the 90s.

This past weekend we had the pleasure of playing Fairhope's Music Festival (acoustic stage) as well as the Friday night art walk in the fabulous Fairhope French Quarter. The acoustic stage is the humblest stage of them all but it had a good p.a. system run by some of our favorite musician friends with a lot more of our good friends in the audience.
The French Quarter merchants chip in and have painters and such working in the courtyard and selling their art. Our job is to get the strollers moving our way for a look at the moichendise while they stroll.
We ( us Creekers ) are all from Fairhope and never get to play here often enough.
