I might be planning a trip to Denver in September, and I'm considering combining it with a hiking trip at Rocky Mountain National Park.
Has anyone been there? Words of wisdom?

Take a lot of pictures.
Take a blister kit.
Take a trash bag. Was a lot of trash every where last time I went. Tried to pick as much up as I could.

So was it dirty? Or just a lot of stuff "left behind?"
Or, to the point...worth the trip?

I'll second Estes Park. Everytime I have been it has been absolutely beautiful. We would wake up around 3:30am and start a moderate hike up to the summit for sunrise. While on the trail we ran into several elk, a distant bear, among other things. I highly recommend a earlier morning hike, and it is a lot cooler than the middle of the day.
Also, the city of Estes Park has a nice selection of shops and restaurants. Everything is in realitive close to each other and a river runs through the middle of town. Feel free to take your shoes off after a long hike and soak them in it with the locals.
Have fun!

We love it there. Our favorite spots- trail ridge road (a beautiful drive), YMCA of the Rockies (a great place to stay), and going for hikes almost anywhere. Enyoy!
