Maybe a little inflation going on there. Knowing the instrument budget for Eugene 4J schools, I suspect that a zero was added. Yamaha seems to be the brand of choice in most of the 4J district.

I cannot imagine any school using horn like that. I just looked at WW&BW. The most expensive student horn they have is this for $1500. This is the most expensive intermediat horn, and only lists for $1575. And most of their Professional horns are less than $3000.
No way a school is using $4000 horns. I doubt they even have tubas worth that, unless they paid list price.
If he shows up on my doorstep, I'll invite him in to play duets.
