When Eric the Red founded a settlement in Greenland, it was green. Now only a small area of the country is green for a short period each year. Obviously the Viking boats carried enough ozone to affect the North Pole ozone layer and cause the climatic change, it just needs to be proved.
Thinking like this will get you a government grant.
