AP left out the best part. This was from the ESPN article:

"Once the contest ended, the runner-up suffered a reversal -- competitive eating-speak for barfing -- leading to a deduction from his final total. Kobayashi finished with 63 HDBs (hot dogs and buns eaten) in his best performance ever.

Competitors receive credit for anything in their mouths at the 12-minute mark, provided they can swallow it.

"Obviously, the last bit exited his mouth quite dramatically,'' said Rich Shea of the International Federation of Competitive Eating. Kobayashi's gastric distress was the only sour note in the tube-steak tussle, which aired nationally on ESPN.

Kobayashi's previous best was 53Â½ in the competition that dates back to 1916. The all-time record before Wednesday's remarkable contest was Chestnut's 59Â½, set just last month in Phoenix."

In other words Kobayashi blew chow. I had the pleasure of seeing it on TV today...at a restaurant while eating lunch. ESPN did one of those artistic slow motion replays. It takes a lot for me to loose my appetite, but it happened today.

Vietnam has some of the best hot dogs I have ever eaten. And, no, they are not made out of dogmeat. They use only the best pork. The beef hot dogs here leave something to be desired--beef here is generally pretty bad. Most of the hot dogs have a natural casing, which is nearly impossible to find in America.

Nathan's hot dogs at Coney Island have the natural casings. However, if you go to the supermarket to buy a package of them, they are the skinless kind... just like any other hot dog!

You are right, Wade. But I have no intention of entering the hot dog eating contest. So I can eat the real thing!

Ya know, I have been credited for eating quite a bit, and there are a few on this forum that can validate that. However, I think maybe around ten hot dogs is probably my limit. I sort of wonder if I can do it, but I'm a little afraid to try. Now, I love the feeling of being full, but not to the point of where I'm full and feeling sick. Then again, perhaps I have the potential to do 70 hot dogs at the next one. Then again, I think that's gotta be more filling than the 70 chicken nuggets I had at Chik-Fil-A. It was a long walk to that parking lot that night. I didn't get sick though, I promise.
