Oscar Peterson was probably the most remarkable musician I've ever seen in concert. Even after his stroke, I've never seen a pianist who seemed so connected to the instrument. He'll be missed.

This is a real blow to the musical world.

I have a recording that was done in Canada on radio during the Second World War. Some of the greatest Canadian stars were on that recording. The last two who were still alive (other than the surviving Dionne quintuplets) were Maynard Ferguson, who died last August (2006), and Oscar Peterson. Both were teenaged boys at the time. They were amazing.
