Since I seriously ranted in an earlier post, (buried my student yesterday)(see wear seat belts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I thought it may be time to air pet peeves for the enjoyment of the audience.
1. Seeing drivers hold their infants while they drive.
2. Drivers who do not use turning signals.
3. Parents who think that their child does no wrong at school,.........ever.
Please add on..............................

Drivers who pull over to the right side of the street at an intersection, only to put their left turn signal on and block YOU from an easy right turn.

People who don't keep moving at a "keep moving" sign.

Vietnamese teachers of English who correct what I write on the board for the students to write. None of them have ever been to an English speaking country and often tell me to slow down my speech so they can understand. Most have the Vietnamese equivalent of a master's degree in English.

Drivers driving 30 MPH under speed limit on a 4 lane road with their friend driving in a car next to them at the same speed (thus blocking the entire side) while TALKING TO EACH OTHER!
Intentionally, loud mufflers.
People with music from their car shaking the car I'm in (unless it's live Tubaing.)
People throwing things in my bell.

People who put mountains where perfectly good racecars might end up.

People at work who go "ugh, who put this on???" and change the station when I'm listening to the Beatles or Led Zeppelin on the radio.
Luckily, I'm out of the banking business in a month!

1. Loud, sloppy chewing
2. Idiots that cut you off when they pull out in front of you from a parking lot
3. People who don't say thank you when you hold a door open for them
4. People who invade my space while shopping or standing in line. (I believe in 3' of personal space)
5. Students who call and cancel their lesson <1hr. before it is set to begin for no good reason (although I still charge them)

Students who ask you a question that you answered less than five minutes ago.
Teachers who feel that it is perfectly alright to hold your students five or ten minutes late to band class just to finish a project.
People who walk up to you after a performance on euphonium and tell you that they enjoyed your solo. What kind of sax is that?

People who bitch about people who drink and drive, yet nearly cause accidents because of their cell phone use while driving(not that drunk drivers are doing anything right).
Americans' sense of entitlement about everything.
And most of the aforementioned things in the previous posts.

People who feel entitled at a NFL game to get as drunk as medically possible without actually going into a coma and be as offensive as possible as often as possible with no regard for anyone else. I don't care if someone *IS* wearing a jersey for the other team - you wouldn't do that on the street or in a mall. Stop it. Shut up and watch the game.
People who go to foreign countries where a different language is spoken and make ZERO effort to communicate in something approximating the native tongue. And yes, I mean both inside and outside the U.S.
People who think "Moral" and "Religious" are the same thing. On a similar note, people who do not understand the idea of the separation of Church and State.
Players who play ALL the cues and 1 only parts - because they didn't come here to count rests.
Playing out of tune. ALL THE TIME. Seriously, are you THAT deaf? Please tell me you don't think that sounds acceptable.
Rushing when you have the melody and dragging the rest of the time, then telling me about your Doctorate in Musical Arts. DMA, meet Dr. Beat.
Violinists.
Aggressive drivers.

Tell them it's the "safe sax" that they've been hearing so much about for their kids...

People who hold a door open for you, BUT stand in front of the door in your way, while you try to squeze through with a huge tuba on your back and one or both hands full.
They are then expecting you to thank them, when in reality they just made it a whole lot harder; I usually wind up clipping the bell on the doorframe in an effort not to clean their clock with it because they are directly in my way...
The day I can't negotiate my own instrument completely on my own (often while carrying a 22 pound baby, dragging two other kids, and carrying a ton of other stuff) is the day I stop playing it.

A university I sold some horns to early last year just now calling me to get my information and asking for my Social Security number OVER THE PHONE. Sheeesh!
1) They should have gotten the information at the time of the transaction.
2) They've got a lot of nerve getting upset with me because I refused their request and asked for their request on their letterhead be mailed to me.

Now I'll have to root through your garbage to get it!

You are talking to your child about something they need to do, and they speak out in the middle of your statement telling you why it can't be done before you finish.
People who get their cell phone out and call someone during a traffic stop.
Parents who come up to the traffic stop and try to tell you why you are wrong (edited to be nice) while the traffic stop is still being executed. (always turns a warning into a ticket)
