Since it's been brought up recently on the board: just be aware that the active ingredients in vaporub include camphor (and turpentine).
Although I skeptical that camphor and turpentine (and most other things that are supposedly "bad for you," for that matter), used appropriately and in moderation, pose a significant health risk to adults, I would be somewhat less sanguine about the risk to infants and children.
