"Godzilla" meets "The Blair Witch Project"

I left in the first hour. I found it to be THE most annoying film I have seen since "Squeeze Play". Anyone remember that one? YMMV.

This week my son and I watched a movie called Monster (DVD Rental). It's about a couple of sisters from NYC who go to Tokyo to do a documentary on Global Warming. Right as they get started an "earthquake" decimates the city.

Turns out there is a series of creatures that are popping up and killing/eating people. And this causes the earthquakes.

Very much shot in the style of the blair witch.


Oh.....didn't watch that to the end...don't anticipate watching Cloverfield.

I went with my 2 sons (16 and 20 yrs. old) this past weekend. We're sci-fi, monster movie nuts. I was immediately dissappointed with the camcorder perspective, and it was nauseating, at first. Then, I became engrossed in the movie and I forgot all about the camcorder aspect. It actually lent itself to feeling more realistic, almost like actual news footage. The creepy part, was the correlation to 9/11. Being from NY, and knowing a few people who perished in the WTC, possibly made it seem more realistic to me. It was pretty shocking how the city was being levelled, yet you rarely saw the monster who was responsible. You do catch some glimpses of it toward the end. The movie never does explain what it was, how it got there, or what becomes of it. You would guess it was destroyed, as they had to nuke Manhattan at the end. But maybe, it wasn't destroyed. Maybe, we'll get to see: "Bride of Cloverfield", or "Son of Cloverfiled", or better yet, "Cloverfield vs. Godzilla."

Even though the movie didn't have a sound track, the orch. score in the closing credits was pretty amazing - great low brass - "Roar! Cloverfield Theme", by Michael Giacchino. I think it is worth seeing and stay for the closing credits.

Did anyone catch the little thing at the end?

i saw it. i thought it was good. there are a lot of things that are obviously underdone but you have to keep two things in mind: 1.) it's a movie and could (probably) never happen and 2.) if in any even that this or something like it did happen, it's meant to seem like the real thing. this is why i think many people are turned off because of the camera or because of bad acting. c'mon, it's a movie. not only is it a movie, but if you wanted quality acting this isn't the plot. you couldn't have anybody youve seen often. you have to have someone that is genuine. and you do see the monsters... quite a bit. give this one a chance and decided for yourself.

CERTAINLY NOT!!!! Cloverfield makes the Abbot and Costello movie look like a masterpiece, which, in my mind, it is!!!!! My favorite is still Abbot and Costello meet Hercules. Now there is a funny movie.
