Just wanted to share a simple idea in case you receive spontaneous visits from good friends and don´t really have food around the house:
- Take pieces/slices of bread (preferrably the kind that takes lots of force to squeeze, i.e. REAL bread)
- Pour pumpkin seed oil in bowl
- Dip and enjoy.
You can also cut up an onion into small cubes and add to the oil, maybe with some sprinkles of vinegar, to make the dip REALLY fancy.
Tastes AWESOME with good red wine, single malt whiskey, or a cigar.
In Austria, this oil is a Styrian specialty (Steiermark, Styria in English, is the region in which Arnold Schwarzenegger was born and raised), but since pumpkins are very popular in the US I figured it must be available there as well. It has a dark, greenish-brown colour and a rich, warm, nut-like flavor to it.

Hmmmm.... I've never seen pumpkin seed oil in the stores here in the US. But... I've never looked, either! About the only time we Americans see pumpkins is at Halloween (near the end of October) when we hollow them out, carve silly faces in them, and light them up with candles. Pies made of pumpkin are popular only around the end of November (American Thanksgiving Day holiday).
Oh yeah.... and some of the colleges have pumpkin tossing contests.

Actually, doing the same thing but with a really good extra-virgin olive oil works every bit as well, although I might have to keep my eye out for pumpkin-seed oil. Sounds tasty. Single-malt whiskey, however, we do have.tubeast wrote:Just wanted to share a simple idea in case you receive spontaneous visits from good friends and don´t really have food around the house:

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

While I was living in Boise, I used to frequent an AMAZING Scotch bar called the Piper Pub. They have like 50-60 different single malts and the crown jewel in their collection is the Macallan 30yo.
I went to the Piper for the first stop on my bachelor party, and the guys pitched in (it was about $30 for the glass) to get me a glass for the first drink of the evening.
With apologies to my wife, I was tempted to call it the highlight of my weekend.
