As a casual NFL watcher, I enjoyed the Super Bowl. A great game right to the end. I was for the Pats because of the season undefeated situation but liked the Giants because of their underdog comeback in the second half of the season.

I didn't have a lot invested in this game but am happy for the Giants and their QB Eli Manning. A great QB with a long future in front of him.

Yeah, yeah, I know. The Patriots' undefeated regular season is now utterly meaningless,  because I'm sure HUNDREDS of NFL teams have gone undefeated all the way up to the Super Bowl,   only to lose that one game and fall into humiliation and total oblivion...    (I'm not being too- I don't know- SARCASTIC, am I? )

But seriously, the Pats had a great season, and they'll be back next year WITH BETTER CAMERAS!!!! MMUUUAHAHAHA!!!!!

Wow. The Giants really became a tough, physical football team in the last few months.

Kudos!

Pretty much. The 2001 Mariners won 116 regular season games. Then they choked in the ALCS. Those 116 wins mean nothing now. Same goes for the Pats.

i was split on the outcome. i wanted to see a 19-0 season but then again i wanted to see an upset. the giants really played their a$$3$ off and it payed off. really great game. this is not to say the pats did poorly. the pats did great and had a terrific season (with cameras :D).

Hey, now both of Archie's boys have won the Superbowl. It's a shame he was never with a team good enough to!
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Absolutely!! Some of my greatest memories are of watching Archie get out of some incredible jams on some awful teams.

as he got in a $trong 1-9 odds bet in Vegas on the Giants to win.

Where in the hell did he get that? Even with the over/under the best that anyone in town saw was 5-3. Doesn't matter, everyone of the casinos lost.

I just talked to a neighbor of mine who handicaps at a major casino. Here are the final payouts:

Over/Under-54: your were betting that the points would be over or under that figure. Came in way under. Every dollar you bet on the under would have paid $3.70.

Straight Bet to Win: Patriots 8-9 roughly speaking every dollar bet you would get $.82 (yes, that is cents) back. Better known as the sucker bet. If you bet the Patriots you would get $3.70 back on your dollar.

Bottom line to the casinos: Giants at +370, which lines up as they figure in hundreds of dollars thus every hundred you bet you get $370 back hence the 3.7-1 ratio. Not bad book.

The casinos haven't lost money on a Superbowl in 17 years. Over 100 million was bet. I bet they lost just a little given the propensity of money going to the Patriots.

I would like to know where the 9-1 action was and how long it was 9-1. When Brady came out gimping at Press day on Wednesday, the book went from 5-3 to 4-1 on the Giants. The book was within .5%. These guys are pros.

Betting is fun to follow. Mind you I said follow. I wouldn't put a quarter in a slot machine. Why? I won the first time and I'm smart enough to know the odds of winning again are stacked against me. Casino's have GREAT restaurants. That is the only reason to go to them.

Come to Vegas, learn to play craps. Craps has the highest advantage to the player. Still miniscule, but better than a slot machine or blackjack. Better yet, give me your money and I'll invest it in the Youth Orchestra. At least you know it won't be spent by some moron casino owner on a boob-job for his wife or a piece of art he can barely see.

Chuck

BTW- I didn't turn a TV on. Pro Football is the opiate of the masses.
