That's because they're like pianos... you have to hold down the left pedal to get any sustain...

I just ordered one from Pearl and it was delivered for me to assemble and deliver to my customer (a local high school) in less than a week. Excuse me bug, but that would be the RIGHT pedal. That left pedal is only for the rear window wiper/washer.

About 5 years ago, I purchased a Musser Vibraphone online from Percussion Source. It was a great price and they were very easy to work with.
