water, water, and water. We are supposed to be 113-115 all week, and my AC is not keeping up. Set at 75 and it's 86. The one in the smaller bedroom does better. But the computer is in here.....and I don't do wifi, so if I want to be online, here is where here is.

It's 7:16 AM somewhere! Drink lots of water. Sounds something like the grapefruit marguerita, which I always get if I see "toronja" among the options, Spanish for "grapefruit." Last time, I was handed a "Corona." Bleah. Next time we try English.

I don't know much at all about Scotch, but isn't that sort of the point? If you wanted a more generic Scotch, it seems to me, you'd go for a blend. The single malts are of interest exactly because they haven't had the variation blended out of them. I am afraid it's wasted on me, though. Last time I had a good variety of Scotch in front of me, I tried a few, but liked the Old Oberholt rye better that someone snuck onto the table.

(A.k.a., "Old Overcoat", classic cheap real rye whiskey - seriously, never tasted so good to me, they may have cleaned up their act a little in recent years. Real rye whiskey is a US thing, that goes back to the early days of the country. "Canadian whiskey" is sometimes called rye, but that's a misnomer.)

"Could" be, I guess, in principle. At any rate, when I've seen someone with more than one or two bottles of single malts, the selection tends to represent a good variety of the different options - they know about the range of variation, and it's part of the attraction. When it's just one or two, it might often be the exception that proves the rule - Laphroaig or something (hope I got that right) with a totally wack smoke-out flavor.

Clamato this evening.

At a scotch tasting a few years back I was introduced to adding a few drops from an eyedropper of spring water to the straight up scotch. You could see the clear water as it worked its way descending throught the amber color of the scotch. Ah!!! It has a very profound way of both mellowing the edge a tad, and also bringing out what might be called a very aggreable fragrance.

Thus. considering the power of water, if it can arguably improve a 25 year old single malt, might it then be good to perhaps drink it on its own?

I'll have to try it sometime.

You might want to check with W.C. Fields before doing so.
