OK so I drink Diet Coke literally by the gallon. Knowing that not all of you like the diet stuff, could those of you who do vote. If not, well, vote your conscience.

My favorite pop of all time was the Diet Coke Black Cherry Vanilla which is no longer being made.

Best is Diet Vanilla Coke, followed by Vanilla Coke Zero. I miss the days of the glass bottles, frosty cold!

I am almost certain that if I were to drink battery acid and live long enough to figure out the taste it would be just like diet pepsi.....

Did anyone else see the Story about diet beverages on the news lately?

As a diabetic I drink the diet soft drinks and given these choices it has to be diet coke. Also like diet cherry coke, and diet lime. Lots of diet Dr. Pepper though is my prefered choice most of the time. I do drink diet pepsi in restaruants and when I visit my sister as that's her drink of choice.
I drink coffee in the morning soda during the day and caffine free green mint tea at night (at least when it's cold outside like now). Of course all of this is in addition to regular old water and lots of it.

I have an IV hook up for diet pepsi.
The local store has a store brand diet cola that tasts pretty close to diet pepsi, depending onthe price i may get the "weis up" diet cola.
diet coke is too sweet. i don't like sweet sodas. i also like diet ginger Ale and dry wine and dark beer and I do not put sugar in my coffee (that is what the donuts are for)

Diet Pepsi.
Whatever happened to the Diet Pepsi that had a squirt of lime in it? I LOVED that stuff and they just took it off the market after a year or so.

On the rare occasion I actually do drink soda pop, I actually prefer the taste of the Splenda-sweetened sodas, which includes Diet Coke Splenda (yellow streak on the silver can) and Diet Rite. There are more out there, these are the only two I can think of right off.
I'm sure future research will show it is bad as well, in similar ways as the aspartame breaking down with heat, but in the meantime it has much less of a bitter aftertaste, and what little it does have actually compliments such drinks as good strong made from tea bags with boiling water poured over them then chilled iced tea.

I'm not a big fan of soda pops in general, but I simply can't bear the taste of artificial sweeteners. To me, they all taste like phenol (or like the smell of phenols).
I guess I have spent too much time in the organic chemistry lab...

the elephant wrote:Diet drinks suck. They are also not too good for you, meaning worse than the regular stuff consumed in moderation. Diet Coke has ties to schitzophrenia in adult women. And diet Pepsi tastes like slightly-less-nasty TAB.
You're right. The problem is that now with all the major companies using high fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar or equivalent as the primary sweetener, the concentration of fructose can also put a strain on your liver taking it apart and putting it back together as glucose that your body uses.

I am not a woman, nor do I play one on TV, but you may have found me out. Actually, I greatly prefer Diet Dr. Pepper. Diet Pepsi and mud puddle water hold about the same attraction to me. Yuck!

On those rare occasions when I do drink a diet soft drink, it's Diet A & W Root Beer. It's the only one, to me, that doesn't taste like a diet drink. Otherwise, I drink decaf iced tea or G2. I wouldn't take a Diet Coke or Pepsi, ESPECIALLY if a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader tried to force me. However, if Emily Proctor or Mariska Hargitay forced me (at gunpoint), I might be persuaded.

All good Texans with a certain age and sophistication prefer Dr. Pepper, diet or regular. And, if you are from the part of Texas I am from, every soft drink is called a "coke".

For quite a while I drank diet Pepsi or diet Coke. Didn't matter much which to me. After reading up on artificial sweeteners I decided that a caffeine free non-diet was better for me. All in moderation, of course.
I had been feeling bad after drinking diet drinks. I can't really describe exactly what I mean by feeling bad. Especially since I quit drinking them and the "bad feeling" went away and is now only a memory. But the difference in how I feel is enough to make me steer clear of all artificial sweeteners.
As always, YMMV.

I'm holding out for when they put the original "coke" ingredient back in Coke®...

So THAT's what causes it! All along I thought it was just natural.
