Finding this on my computer reminds me of how early morning practices started before sunup and how evening practices went untill after sundown. (UIL 8-hour rule was strictly followed by my director)
I wouldn't trade anything for being able to participate in Texas State Marching finals twice during high school.

I loved being part of this marching band; it's really nice to find these videos online to remember.

Marching on asphalt?

I remember when my school's marching band had to march on that stuff. We didn't have the entire length or width of a football field, it had a heavy slope, there were large bumps in it, it sucked when we had to do fast backwards marching when raining, and it scratched up the Juipiter sousaphones pretty good (which made it all worth it).

My school marching band used a park across the street..
But when I did corps, all of our rehearsals at home were in a parking lot. It made dropping dots when learning drill much, much easier. (just carry some chalk with you!)

With the Hollywood Knights, 20+ years ago in Los Angeles I remember marching on the roof top of a parking structure a few times! We had a nice view though!

I quit after a few practices because they were so unorganized and the 40 mile drive each way was terrible. Anyone know what ever happened to them? Bandmaster Dave, do you know??? An internet search didn't have much...

I don't think there was any way the school sousaphone I used could be more bashed up, save for a sweat-fueled chainsaw assault (which could happen much more likely than you might think).

My school's marching band did pretty good this year. I really liked our program. Here are a vidjya.

Sorry to say, but all of the trumpets marched were Bachs.

My school is lucky. We have our very own field, it's well kept up, and we have a really nice permanent tower for the director... However, the field is about half a mile walk from the school building.

For me, marching band is the only thing I really live for anymore. I have good grades, (3.8 GPA) but I can't stand school.
